So you got a new iPhone. Congratulations! Before you get it up and running, your probably going to want to transfer the information from your old phone to your new phone. Thankfully, Apple has made several ways to transfer your information easily. Below are the steps:

Mac Or PC

To begin, turn on the new device. You will arrive at a white “Hello” screen. Follow the setup steps until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Connect your device to the computer that you backed up your old device too. Open up the iTunes or Finder application and select your device.

Find and select Restore Backup. Select the backup you want to restore from (the most recent will be at the top). If the backup was encrypted, enter the password when prompted. Then sit and wait. Your phone will begin the restore process. Once complete, you may be asked to complete a few more steps before the setup is complete. Connect your device to a WiFi network and plug your device in after setup. Apps, music, and photos will download from iCloud during this time.

iCloud Backups

To begin, turn your device on. After passing the “Hello” screen, follow the steps to set up until you reach the WiFi section. Select a WiFi network to join and continue the setup steps until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Select the ‘Restore from iCloud Backup’ option.

Next, enter in your Apple ID information. Once done, you will be prompted to select a backup to restore from. The newest backups are at the top of the selection list. Select your backup, and the process will start. Once complete, you may be asked to complete a few more steps before the setup is complete. Connect your device to a WiFi network and plug your device in after setup. Apps, music, and photos will download from iCloud during this time.

Quick Start

If your old iPhone supports iOS 11 or newer, you can transfer via the QuickStart method. Make sure you have Bluetooth turned on before you get started. Firstly, place your new device, turned on, near your old device. A screen should popup requesting to setup up the new device with an Apple ID.

Next, click continue and wait for a blue, blob-like animation to appear on the new device. Hover your current device over the animation, making sure it is captured in the viewfinder. Once you get a Finish on New Device alert, you are set. You will need to follow a few more setup steps before the information is transferred. This process will take some time, and both phones will need to be next to one another to complete.
